It is with great sadness that we report that our club member Albert “Ken” Sweeney KQ4CZB became a silent key this past week.
Ken was a Vietnam Veteran and was assigned to the 173rd Airborne at LZ English as a Morse Code Inteceptor. After Vietnam, he was sent to Germany and assigned to a fieldstation and later on to a detachment on the border with east Germany. After 4 years in the Army, he came home and joined the National Guard as a jet engine mechanic, and worked until there was an accident with a fire extinguisher which left him blinded in his right eye. He worked for the military and as a federal employee in several positions and finally retired after 37 years.
We send our sincerest condolences to his family.
Rest in peace to a proud Army veteran. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
